Alumni of Color Initiative

Endowed Scholarships

Overall Goal: $2.5M
Financial aid is an investment in talent: an opportunity to touch a life, a family, even an entire community. Our need-blind admission policy attracts gifted students who have a wide range of experiences; our new financial aid policy featuring more scholarships and reduced loans targets lower- and middle-class families.

The perpetual support provided by endowed scholarship funds is critical to helping Brown meet its financial aid budget. With Brown’s growing commitment to reducing the loan burden upon our students, financial aid is the fastest-growing item in Brown’s budget. Your gift to help establish an endowed scholarship fund with a preference for a student of color with financial need will help us meet the challenge of providing our students with the competitive financial aid that they need to attend Brown. Please support these dedicated scholars.

Endowed Funds for Affinity Group Scholarships
Goal: many @ $250,000
Each alumni affinity group at Brown – Brown University Latino Alumni Council, Inman Page Black Alumni Council, and Asian/Asian American Alumni Alliance – seeks to establish at least one endowed scholarship. To participate, please give generously to the fund representing the affinity group of your choice.

Investment in Diversity Scholarship Endowment
The Investment in Diversity initiative began in 1985 and resulted in the Investment in Diversity Endowed Scholarship. The fund is now valued at over $6.2 million and generates enough income to provide scholarship aid for nine undergraduate students of color. Your gift to this fund will expand the number of students it can support each year and increase the resources available for financial aid.
