How To Give
Brown University is enriched by a community of alumni, alumnae, parents, grandparents, and friends whose philanthropy supports the institution's academic mission through gifts to the Brown Annual Fund. Brown Annual Fund Leaders distinguish themselves among their peers by making gifts of $10,000 or more* to the University's Annual Fund within a single fiscal year and are recognized as members of the Carrie Tower Society.
$750,000 Brown Annual Fund Leadership Challenge
To help ensure the continued growth of the Brown Annual Fund, an anonymous challenger is encouraging Brown’s alumni/ae, parents, and friends to become
philanthropic leaders for the Brown Annual Fund.
The terms of this challenge are as follows:
$750,000 will be earned when we secure 825 donors of $10,000 or more.
This represents a 10% increase over last year’s BAF Leader figure of 750.
In fiscal year 2006-2007, a total of 784 Brown Annual Fund Leaders contributed $24.8 million. Because of this outstanding display of leadership, the University exceeded its Annual Fund goal and earned the $1 million Chancellor’s Leadership Challenge honoring President Ruth Simmons, the Brown Annual Fund’s staunchest advocate. This Challenge was a wonderful tribute by Chancellor Stephen Robert ’62 LHD’04 P’91 whose term ended June 30th. Since the Leadership Program was established in 2000-2001, the number of Brown Annual Fund Leaders has increased by 202% and their contributions have increased by 322%. These donors have answered the call to make the Annual Fund a philanthropic priority, underwriting the implementation of the Plan for Academic Enrichment and pushing the University to a new level of excellence.
